OUR HOT TUB BLOG

Are you looking for a new way to relax and pamper yourself without breaking the bank? Why not plan your own at-home spa day? If you’re a hot tub owner, you have your own built-in home spa right in your backyard.

A DIY spa day can be even more relaxing, not to mention less expensive, than booking a day at your local spa. Done in the comfort of your own home, you don’t have to worry about driving or appointment times. Everything is done at your pace.

10 Steps To Plan The Perfect At-Home Spa Day

Read on to discover how you can plan the perfect spa day of total relaxation.

Planning Ahead

The best way to ensure your spa day goes off without a hitch is to make sure you have everything you need beforehand.

Plan a little shopping excursion earlier in the week to stock up on beauty supplies and whatever snacks you’ll want for your spa day.

Setting Up For Your Spa Day

It will help with the flow of your day if you have all of the items you plan to use set up and ready beforehand.

Preparing a playlist of your favorite soothing music will start your spa day right. Having aromatherapy candles or a diffuser and essential oil in the areas where you’ll be performing your beauty rituals will help you cater to all of your senses.

Getting Ready

If your hair is long, pin it up so it will be out of the way. Slip-on a headband to keep your bangs or stray hairs out of your face and remove your makeup.

Put on your most comfortable bathing suit, if you choose to wear one, don your robe and slippers and head out to the hot tub for some well-deserved hydrotherapy. Remember to take a cool drink with you to ensure you stay hydrated.

Then get ready for the warm water and jet massage to relax you and purify your skin. Take advantage of that perfectly curated playlist that you created and add spa-friendly aromatherapy fragrances to the water, to really make the most of your hot tub experience.

Preparing For Your Facial

Once you get out of the spa, it’s time to take advantage of your warm skin and open pores. Gently exfoliate your face and neck with your favorite facial scrub. Rinse your face clean with warm water and then apply a mask.

Clay masks are ideal for purging the skin of impurities, but you can also opt for a homemade face mask if you prefer. While you’re waiting for your mask to dry, you can move on to your tips and toes.

Prepping Your Nails

While waiting for your mask to dry, why not get started on your nails? Remove any existing polish from your fingernails and toenails and trim them as needed.

Shape your nails with a file or emery board and then carefully push your cuticles to the base of your nail beds. Use a bit of exfoliant and massage your hands and feet. Rinse and apply moisturizer.

Completing Your Facial

Your mask will be ready to come off by this point. Remove it gently with a warm, damp washcloth, and then rinse your face with cool water.

Use a light layer of serum on your face and neck and then spray your face with a toner. Once dry, apply, eye cream, moisturizer, and some sunscreen.

Painting Your Nails

Now that your face feels great, it’s time to give your nails some more TLC. After selecting the polish you wish to use, apply two to three coats to your fingernails and toenails and follow that up with a topcoat.

While you’re waiting for your nails to dry, why not read another chapter in that book you’ve been working on or relax in front of the TV?

Working on Your Body

Once your polish is dry, it’s time to turn your attention to the rest of your body. Using a dry brush or some exfoliating gloves, gently rid your body of dry, rough skin and then head back to the hot tub.

A quick dip in the heated water will aid in the detoxification of your body and quicken blood circulation and lymph flow while washing away dead skin cells.

Cooling Down

After you get out of the hot tub, why not slip into the shower and cool off? Showering in cool water will close your pores and further boost your blood circulation while giving you a shot of energy.

If you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, ask your doctor before trying a radical temperature change.

Once you’ve toweled off, apply body butter or lotion to your entire body for soft, silky skin.

Final Steps

Now that you’ve completed your spa ritual at the end of your dedicated spa day, why not slip in a bit more me-time?

Do something you enjoy whether it’s reading, watching TV, or a special hobby to top off your perfect day.
