Prolonging The Lifespan Of Your Hot Tub Cover

OUR HOT TUB BLOG

Your hot tub cover acts as a sponge. It absorbs moisture, making it heavy and less effective, especially with the addition of sun, rain, and snow.

Plus, that tree that’s shedding all over the place. You now have a recipe for a cover that’s not only heavy but potentially slimy or moldy.

1. Regular Cleaning: Give your cover a gentle wipe-down with mild dish soap and water every few weeks. This keeps debris and gunk at bay. Mixing 3 parts water and 1 part white vinegar can work wonders for more stubborn spots or growths.

2. Condition It: After cleaning, apply a vinyl conditioner (order here) once a month. It acts like a sunblock, preventing UV rays from making your cover brittle.

3. Proper Positioning: Make sure it sits correctly. A sagging cover can collect water, and cause more moisture to accumulate.

4. Vent it Out: Every once in a while, let your cover breathe. This helps release any trapped moisture, ensuring it remains light and effective.

Take the cover off the hot tub and let it dry in the sun in an upside-down (and inside out) “V” shape

Also, unzip any zippers to let the moisture escape. The longer you can do this, the drier and lighter the cover will get.
